The Tavshar Archon 15mm Mechas and Bundles Outlined

To be released last weekend in November on 15mm.co.uk the brand new range of 15mm Tavshar Mecha and bundles plus reaction forces for Loud Ninja Games to expand the Yandrassi collection of awesomeness!  If you missed the Introduction to the Tavshar Archon Mecha article by Eli Arndt with sketch by Sam Croes have a look and a read.  Upon release all of the codes will be HERE on the website.  Ain't this just the most lovely 15mm mecha you have seen recently!

"Archons are elite war machines, piloted by Tavshar that have reached the rank of Prime and shown their prowess in battle above other Primes, making them the elite among elites. Archon is not only the name of the mecha but also the new rank of those who pilot them. Each Archon selects its weapon load based on its mission or sometimes the preference of the individual Archon where command edict does not override personal choice. A mix of weapon types is common, allowing Archons operating in force to counter unexpected threats. Archons are most often tasked with providing heavy support to lesser troops alone or in small groups, but may be used as strike teams by themselves."

Above are two shots of IAF036A Tavshar Guardian Archon mecha built in one of its variations and pose and then painted by the legendary Sam Croes.  There are six different mecha choices and each has a different weapon load out and is very posable.  An advanced level white metal kit which is supplied with a selection of heads to use.  When built each stands 55mm to 60mm tall.

Kidnap - An alternative use for the HOT103 Cockatrice 15mm monster

I am delighted to present to all you 15mm fantasy wargamers out there a new article by Andy Jefcoate!  If you missed the previous half dozen by Andy you can see them on the blog HERE. Great for Age of Might and Steel and also USEME 15mm Fantasy plus of course any other 15mm system this time his subject is a conversion of our HOT103 Cockatrice one of this years most popular releases.  Enjoy and Thanks.  GBS

Kidnap - An alternative use for the HOT103 Cockatrice 15mm monster!

Some of you may have read my earlier article about painting the new Cockatrice that has joined the excellent 15mm.co.uk HOT range of figures. By strange coincidence Sam Croes and I both painted the new figure using similar colours despite being separated by a few hundred miles! I was therefore determined to paint another and come up with a very different colour scheme so Gavin very generously provided another casting for me to use. At the same time I was planning a big fantasy game and needed a  general to lead my combined forces of evil, so I decided that the Cockatrice would make an excellent mount.

After much consideration I picked the mounted Chaos Knight figure from the Tabletop fantasy range (537 Chaos Knight on mount) to be my General. This was because the figure has a full helm so could be male or female, human or Vampire and could be used to fit various scenarios. In my game it was a Vampire Lord who had control of a Goblin tribe to fight alongside his Undead forces but as I've said before the only limit is your imagination. I clipped off the spear that the figure holds and replaced it with the sword from the Undead Cavalry standard bearer (HOT24) to make it different from my other Chaos Knights.

To make the figure stand out further I decided to portray it as in flight as the Cockatrice already has it's wings spread. I carefully clipped off the base and used a flying stand (from the LBA1 pack) that was attached to the Cockatrice with a thin brass rod. The flying stand itself was then attached to a 40mm square base to give it stability.

As the bulk of my forces of good are human I decided to put a human command figure in the creatures claws to look like an enemy leader has been kidnapped for questioning. I used the command figure from pack MRC26 of the Altuos historical range as the majority of my humans are also from that range.

For this Cockatrice I painted the scales in purple with a light blue underbelly and legs, then the feathers were coloured a light grey with the crests on the head in a vivid pink. The whole thing was given a black ink wash to tone it down so that it fit in with my Undead army but as the Chaos knight is mostly encased in metal, pretty much any colour would work.

I enjoyed this project as it's fun to spend a bit longer on your leader figures to make them stand out on the tabletop. I know that the colour scheme won't be to everyone's taste but you have to agree that it's very different to the last Cockatrice that I painted. I have a growing collection of characters with monsters as mounts and they are always fun to do. While I like having a good size collection of generic monsters that will fit with pretty much any army, it's good to tie some to a specific force as for me it helps to give the army an identity.

Here is the HOT103 Cockatrice as it appears on the 15mm.co.uk website.  It is a three piece white metal monster.

Recently the lads at 15mm.co.uk released digital downloads of Age of Might and Steel and UM002 USEME 15mm Fantasy.  These are excellent compact rule systems check them out!

Thanks for reading.

USEME Solo Play Campaign Setting and Rules for free by Vic Dobson

Last week the entire USEME series of wargame titles was released as digital downloads. At just 3.00GBP each these twelve titles cover science fiction, fantasy and historical wargaming along with other settings too. You can see all of these on the 15mm.co.uk website HERE if you missed that. We are delighted now to present to you for free an entire campaign setting based on the HOF 15mm Science Fiction range written by Vic Dobson which also includes solo play rules. Read on for the download link and more.

To download the campaign setting in a zipped file from our Dropbox click HERE

You will need UM001 USEME 15mm Science Fiction to make use of this campaign setting and we also recommend UM010 USEME Support Pack too for your games. If you want to fight actions in space around the planets then you might like UM006 USEME Starship Battles as well. Super fast, really easy and great fun!

Written by Vic Dobson who has created other USEME articles (click here to search our blog for USEME to find them HERE) this solo play campaign is a great way to plan out your table top battles across several weeks. I think a campaign of four player sides with two dozen games would take about six weeks with several games of half an hour or so each session. Enjoy!

There are many free files for all of the USEME titles and these are collected on its page of our website where you can download the latest version for free.

Thanks for Reading and well done Vic!

Big Hovel 15mm Fantasy building painted by Steve Dean

When a man gets an eye on a home he likes he often does his best to get his feet in the door and then decides to give it a lick of paint to suit his own tastes. A few days ago master of the paint brush Steve Dean whose work we showed earlier this month on our Tabletop Dungeon Party and our Anti-Paladins turned his attention to our HOB1B Big Hovel from the 15mm Human Settlement building range. Ain't it just lovely! Great work Steve.

The HOB Range of 15mm Fantasy buildings currently has five different Human buildings and five different Orc buildings which are great for HOTT, AoMaS or any other fantasy system to go with your army as objectives or targets.

You can see them all HERE and you have the choice of each of them or value bundles which save you ten or even twenty percent. All of the buildings were designed by Sam Croes and have been very popular with all of them having their molds replaced many times to keep the castings crisp. Dimensions of the structures are given on the website.

If you are interested in our four new now resin monsters you have until the end of the month to get them at 15% off. The classic Tabletop monster Rhinosaurs along with the HOT War Mammoth and War Elephant too. Restored to normal prices on 1st October 2016. Go to the website or on our blog HERE and HERE for details and more images.

Steve Dean paints up classic 15mm Tabletop Dungeon Party

Earlier this month I put up a short article about the fine figure painter Steve Dean and his work on our HOT104 Anti-Paladins, which you can see on our blog HERE if you missed it. I have two more images on file here from last year that slipped my notice which are also by Mr Dean so I thought I would share these with you now as they are really good. You can visit his forum from where the images are taken HERE or read on for more information.

The classic 15mm Tabletop fantasy range has a lot of miniatures and monsters among its codes and while we have not as yet completed the re-release of all of them we have the majority of the codes online. Among the most popular are the Humans which include twenty five different poses all well suited to Dungeon Quest, RPG and character driven skirmish. Featuring Barbarians, Wizards, Females, Rogues, Bard, Paladins and many more you can see them all HERE on a specified search on the Tabletop page. Great for any system.

Steve Dean has worked his magic on a selection of the Tabletop Humans taken from codes 501, 505 and 510. All of these can be had as single miniatures from our pages or as packs. However the most popular option is our great value saver skirmish packs which contain one of every pose plus some extra with a 10% saving. We have FST02 TTF Human Skirmish Pack and FST03 MDA Human Skirmish Pack. Below is our image of FST03.

15mm.co.uk has put a lot of effort into bringing back not only Laserburn but also the Tabletop Fantasy range and the Tabletop Historicals too and we are really pleased that wargamers both experienced and new to this great pastime have sent us messages thanking us. Sure we want to make a reasonable living but we also want to keep the soul of wargaming intact too.

Well done Steve and thanks for such excellent paint work!

Steve Dean paints up HOT104 Anti-Paladins

That master of the fine brush Mr Steve Dean has painted up miniatures from one of 15mm.co.uk's newest packs in the HOT 15mm Fantasy range those being the Anti-Paladins warriors of the dark or evil overlords. He does fantastic work and you can see the original images on his website HERE. Read on for more or go HERE to see HOT104 on our website.

I have also put up the single figure images taken from Steve's excellent website. Here they are:

"We rode north as one. A thousand Men sworn by the mother church to defend the lands against the darkness and perversion that threatened us. Little did we know that the darkness lingers not deep from the surface in some Men. As we rode the voices whispers and shadows lucked in the forests and soon one then another and another fell away until when we came to the snow line there were but four hundred left and we had seen no foe. It was then our faith was splintered as ahead we saw our brother knights but they were not as they had been. Twisted and filled with the bane of life they were now of the darkness. Evil is all the more when once it was good."

This is a popular 15mm scale pack and we have plans to expand it in the future. As with all the other infantry codes in the range you can choose HOT104 as a pack with sixteen miniatures, three packs saving 10% off the price and lastly as a 'sampler' which contains one of each pose from the pack which is ideal for RPG or skirmishing in 15mm scale. Go HERE

Well done Steve and thanks!

War in a Box Blog paints up HOT 15mm Skeleton Spears and Guard

It has been a mega month for spotting the great miniatures and more from 15mm.co.uk on the blogs and projects of wargamers all over the world. It is my intention this month to show as many of these as I can to you. Some are science fiction articles but many are fantasy articles and this suits since we are in the process of re-mastering some of our classic 15mm monsters into new life in resin. If you missed that news you can read it HERE on our blog. I was kindly given permission to link up to the War in a Box blog which is a great resource for wargamers on a budget.

You can see the original blog post titled 'A Little Something from the Closet' HERE and above the images of our 15mm HOT Undead miniatures. These figures are taken from the HOT 15mm Fantasy Range from packs HOT41 Skeleton Spears and HOT99 Skeleton Eternal Guard. Both popular packs of 16 mixed miniatures. Go to the page on this link to see all of our Undead HERE as we have many more. As well as packs we also offer a fantastic option of the 'sampler' on each code where you can choose to purchase one of each pose in the pack which is ideal for dungeon crawl and small scale skirmish with characters.

It is well worth looking through the War in a Box blog at the many interesting updates where 'Warren' outlines his campaign and shows his painting and growing collection.  He has Tabletop Barbarians, Wizards and Pack Horses as well as much more there. I am a regular visitor to the pages myself.

Thanks and well done War in a Box!

Warchest Blog paints up SHM Alien Characters

Jimboba is a fellow Scotsman who like this Scotsman really loves 15mm science fiction wargaming. Recently he posted images of some of his collection of 15mm alien characters and I asked him if it would be cool for me to feature his SHM Range aliens on our blog.  He agreed and indeed sent some more specially taken pictures (in the real world he is a talented graphic designer) for us to use.  You can see them below.  You can also see the original blog post on Warchest HERE from which these characters and their stories are taken.

If you like the look of these 15mm aliens which are excellent for any set of rules or setting you can see them all at the SHM 15mm Science Fiction Range on the website.  They are from left to right: SHM31 Baroka Crimelord, SHM50 Razak Bouncer, SHM66 Skorath Mercenary and SHM30 Gizbin Mercenary.  These are all miniatures designed by Eli Arndt.

Good job Jimboba!

Thanks for Reading,
