V105 Sabre Jet Flyer for Laserburn back at 15mm.co.uk

We are continuing our re-release of classic Laserburn 15mm science fiction vehicle codes this week with the iconic Sabre Jet Flyer.  Dating from the early 1980's this vehicle is unique in the range in that it is the only civilian type flyer and it has more parts than others its size.  We elected to keep the Sabre in white metal instead of resin and spent a lot of time cleaning up the original masters and putting them in new black rubber. The Sabre now looks as good again as it did the first day it appeared in wargaming stores across Great Britain. Our team are very pleased with the result.

Here are some images including a scale image with an Imperial Trooper (not supplied) and a parts of kit photo too:

V105 Sabre Class Jet Flyer - 1 Metal Vehicle Kit  5.00GBP
A small civilian or local authority science fiction jet flyer perfect for most 15mm campaign settings. This code contains one white metal re-mastered set of parts to assemble the Sabre flyer.  Dimensions of the vehicle are approx 40mm long and 30mm wide.  The jet pods may be assembled for a landing or idle or a flying position.  No flight stand is supplied but the vehicle could easily be mounted upon one. A classic Laserburn model now re-mastered and produced in white metal.  GO HERE.

If you like the style of the Sabre then check out the resin and white metal new kit of the V106 Law Officer Air Raft on our website.  Here is a picture of this popular space opera style vehicle.

RAP012 Chuhuac Heavy Combat Cyberform released!

RAP012
As masters of biotech and biomech enhancement, the Chuhuac has long utilized lesser creatures, augmented by technologies, to supplement their military. Known as combat cyberforms, these living drones are not controlled so much as guided. Trained and skill wired for specific tasks, they are much more autonomous than many robotic drones and so require less direct handling and programming.

In the skies over the battlefield enemies are constantly under the scrutiny of many small cyberform flyers as well as the soaring specter of the "Kreeshac" heavy combat cyberform. with a wing span in excess of eight feet, this flying reptile is loaded with advanced long range sensors, target acquisition and communications equipment. Where the smaller, platoon-level cyberform flyers are tasked with localized, smaller unit support, they are networked through either their handlers or the Kreeshac cyberforms. Deploying a Kreeshac over the battlefield allows a greater network and longer reach for battlefield presence, essentially establishing an atmospheric communications satellite. Long range assets can even target off the information provided by the prying eyes of the heavy combat cyberform.

Now Released on 15mm.co.uk the latest addition to the excellent space raptor range from Loud Ninja Games.  Go HERE to see RAP12 Chuhuac Heavy Combat Cyberform.  This unique flyer is a great addition to your forces and if you have some of the Chuhuac in your collection it goes really well with the smaller combat form in RAP003.  Here is a scale shot alongside a space raptor trooper:

You can find the whole Chuhuac Space Raptor range HERE.

Additionally due to customer feedback and with permission from the guys at LNG we have added an option to the RAP003 Chuhuac Command pack allowing the purchase of a pack of six little drones.  This means you can get a force of the small Combat Cyberform as below.  A dropdown option in the menu from HERE will get you this new sub-pack.

Laserburn Glaive converted for Traveller in 15mm Scale

Back in January of this year I spoke to a lovely chap by the name of Keith Fry who is a big fan of Laserburn and of Traveller too in 15mm scale.  He was about to undertake a conversion of a V008 Glaive APC with some bits to make a specialised vehicle for his Traveller collection.  I helped out with a resin test casting at that point.  I asked if I could, when the time came, put up a posting about it here on the blog.  Assent was given and here we are only a few months later!

Above you can see the original resin V008H model hover Glaive which is on our website and below you can see the Sharushid Type 42 Fire Control Centre that Keith converted his into.

A good job and a fine result.  You can read the article HERE on his blog.  There is a lot for a 15mm science fiction fan to read on his blog so have a

The Croes Nest - Painting the converted HOT34 Wvyern

In the last article blog post on this project I spoke about choosing and converting the Wvyern and the General riding it.  You can read that posting HERE.  Now that the model is complete I set about painting it up and getting it ready for the wargaming table.  It was a straight forward and enjoyable couple of hours painting.
Front View
Rear View
Painting the converted Wyvern with Rider was relatively straightforward. Gold and silver for rider's armour, with the occasional dash of Alazarin Crimson on the cloth and banners to create a deep reddish pink.   The rider is female and that was taken into account.

Detail shot of the Rider
The monster's main colour had to be purple, the colour of enchantment and fitting for a "good" aligned monster. Oriental Violet was used, higlighted to various degrees by adding Titanum White. Where a wash was needed, a mixture of Violet Ink and Acrylic Matt Medium was used. This gave a deep richness to the scales texture on the Wyvern's body.  This did not take overly long for, aside from the details, the monster is all scales.

I used the excellent Pebeo Studio Acylics range for the painting and the titles of the colours refer to this range.  You can see this range stocked by 15mm.co.uk HERE.
My Wvyern General faces up to the HOT94 Jabberwock!
In all it was a very quick but eye catching conversion, a great centerpiece for one's 15mm Elf army.  I could not resist a quick photo with my Wyvern facing off against a creature designed by me the HOT94 Jabberwock.  Who would win?

As we promised in part one of this project we have made an update to the HOT34 Wyvern page of the website and included an option there for you to purchase the creature with an Elf rider so that you can undertake this simple build in your own time.  Find it HERE.

The Croes Nest - Converting a HOT34 Wvyern

The idea for this special conversion really came from the fact that I had a HOT34 Wyvern sitting on my work desk. This flying beastie was there as I had used it for an illustration project as a reference. Whilst rummaging through the many spare parts trays and bags I have lying around, I came across a Mounted Elf female general from the HOT8 Elf Command pack. As these things go, I saw the possibilities instantly and the idea for the Elf Dragonrider General was born.
HOT34 Conversion front view
HOT34 Conversion rear view
My dragon rider was damaged as the head of the axe she was carrying had broken off in my bits box. But that wasn't a very big problem and in fact I was going to remove it anyway. It was just a matter of taking a pin vice to the now empty hand, and drilling a hole all the way through where the axe handle would have been. Using a piece of wire, I fashioned a lance shaft. I used bits cut from a lenght of thin brass tube for detail, some modelling putty for the lance tip and glued on banners that were cut from heavy paper. The banners were then soaked in superglue to make them rigid and sturdy.

In all, a relatively simple conversion on the rider which was then mounted directly onto the neck of the Wyvern.  There was no need for major work there was by a great coincidence the neck of the beast is the same girth as the horse the rider was meant for. The rider was then glued on to the neck/shoulders part of the wyvern and small gaps were filled with modelling putty.

In terms of others trying this small project out at home one might even want to use a HOT42 Elf Lance Knight rider or a HOT43 Elf Spear Knight rider instead, for greater simplicity. These would not need any alteration to the riders to make a complete master of the Wyvern.  A general or simply a knight.  One Wyvern or a flight of them depending on the mood and plan of the wargamer.

HOT34 Conversion side view
The Wvyern has a very sturdy integral base so mounting it onto a standard size HOTT base was straight forward and then with a mix of sand and small rock fragments the base was given its terrain scree.

The next part of this article will be along in a few days once the model is painted up and has time to dry.  We will be linking this up to the HOT34 page on the website giving an option for you to get the parts to make a version of this build yourself at home.

15mm.co.uk now on The Miniatures Page

We are now a paid banner advertiser on The Miniatures Page.  It took a bit longer than I would have liked but then you cannot complain eh.  This means that all of our releases and our special offers will be linked up from this blog to TMP from now on with smaller news items still here and possibly on the forums of TMP as well.  See our banner page HERE.

The Miniatures Page is without a doubt the biggest wargaming portal in the known universe (perhaps the Grey Alien's have one bigger but I can't get the address for it!) and every day it supplies news and opinion on every genre of wargaming and beyond.  I enjoy reading it and commenting every now and again across the week.

Our first news article just happened to be the HOF28 Charger APC vehicle kit release.  Here is a screen grab of it today.

HOF28 Charger APC multi-role vehicle released!

HOF28 Charger Armoured Personnel Carrier with Turret.
It is the year 2100 and the Resource Wars are in full swing on Earth.  Nations feud to take what they can from a dying world that is all out of succour for her greedy children.  The richer power blocks have established small colonies on Mars and on the Moon in partial terraforming and in dome.  While the use of nuclear and chem-bio weapons is outlawed it is more out of fear than respect of life.  War is everywhere and the battle lines are in field and city both.   For the winners there will be places among the stars a series of Human Colonies and for the losers only the arid taste of the towering exhaust of plumes of the mighty Ark Ships that are even now being built.  Welcome to the year 2100.

HOF28 with HOF104 SFA Elite Trooper for scale.
HOF28 Charger APC Kit  (6.00GBP)
This pack contains the resin and white metal pieces to assemble one 15mm scale Charger vehicle kit as an APC or turreted APC variant.  The Charger is the workhorse military and police transporter of the Human Colonies and Security Force Alpha.  Designed as a feature of the Human Colonial Army template in Alien Squad Leader 2.0 it is equally at home in any near future or such game system.  Parts are: Charger Hull, Charger Wheel Unit, Turret and Top Hatch (a choice of two configurations), Cannon Barrel and Non Lethal Barrel (a choice of two weapon options), a pair of hatch covers and a twin launcher unit which can be sited anywhere on the vehicle. Approx 60mm long and 30mm tall (without turret) when assembled.  Easy to assemble and great value. Make yours a military vehicle or law vehicle and choose pure APC or infantry fighting vehicle. The Charger is part of Security Force Alpha (SFA) in the HOF Range.  From battles to peace keeping or law enforcement roles it suits them all. HERE.

HOF28 Parts in the Pack.
Choose from a pack or three packs (saving 10% automatically on the price) supplied unpainted and without bases.  Some assembly required.  Mono image shows parts.  Image with HOF104 SFA Elite Trooper is for scale only as is image with SHM66 Skorath and miniatures not supplied.

The Charger is very adaptable and can be assembled in several ways for many uses.  Here are some examples all from the parts in HOF28:

HOF28 SFA Charger APC Variant rear view
HOF28 Frontier Charger APC Variant side view
HOF28 Frontier Charger APC with SHM66 Skorath for scale
HOF28 Police Charger with non-lethal turret variant.
HOF28 Police Charger rear view
HOF28 Police Charger APC Variant front view
We wanted this vehicle to be able to carry out many roles and have a unique near future adaptable look.  I think we have managed this.  Here is a link to the concepting post on the Charger.

All across the Human Colonies and on Terra itself there is a need for security after, during and even before the high rollers and expensive kit arrives in the battle zone. Security Force Alpha is just that force filling in as police, paramilitaries, mercenaries and planetary militias too. They are the faceless grunts that do the thankless jobs needed by all those who govern, control or enforce. Use them as you will from the near to the far future!

The SFA range contains more than fifty different poses of 15mm white metal miniatures and vehicles allowing a wargamer to assemble a cohesive force for their campaigns. A whole integrated range within HOF which will be expanded even more
