Laserburn Vehicle Showcase and Freebie in All Orders

V106 Air Raft with Imperial Trooper
Last week all of us at 15mm.co.uk reached the end of a six month project to re-master and re-release all of the classic 15mm scale Laserburn vehicle codes. Its been a constant part of our lives for this entire time and while the odd thing was a little troublesome on the whole it was a great experience. The reason not least for this being the outpouring of adoration and joy towards us from science fiction wargamers both young and older at our efforts. In some cases notably the V011 Scorpion Air Lander and the V106 Law Officer Air Raft which would have never seen the light of day again but for this process. One being so heavy in white metal that it would be impossibly expensive for customers and the other the loss of its mold stock due to age. As a result we are rounding up the whole range and the Laserburn experience so that you can see it all. From the first to the last here are all the vehicles in all their glory!

V101 Flit Cars- 2 Resin Vehicles
Civilian sports anti-grav cars perfect for any 15mm sci-fi setting.

V103 Hover Vans - 2 Resin Vehicles
Civilian small transporting flat bed anti-grav vans.

V104 Hover Support Wagon – 1 Resin and White Metal Vehicle

V106 Law Officer Air Raft – 1 Resin and White Metal Vehicle

V010 Partizan Scout Cars – 2 Resin Vehicles
Civilian or Para Military transporter vehicles.

V008 Glaive Armoured Personnel Carrier – 1 Resin Vehicle
Choose from Tracked, Hover, Wheeled or Anti-Gravity versions.

V009 Imperial Scout Car – 1 Resin and White Metal Vehicle

Choose from Tracked, Hover, Wheeled or Anti-Gravity versions.

RT Robo Turrets – White Metal Weapons
Choose from a sprue of weapons or singles. Use on Laserburn vehicles.

V105 Sabre Jet Flyer – 1 White Metal Vehicle
Civilian flying vehicle with seats for two passengers.

V005 Heavy Laser Cannon – 1 White Metal Artillery Kit
A powerful energy weapon in the form of a field gun with a human gunner ideal for many 15mm campaign settings.

V007 Scythe Jet Copter – 1 Resin and White Metal Vehicle
A large military jet copter suitable for any 15mm sci-fi setting.

V011 Scorpion Air Lander – 1 Resin and White Metal Vehicle

A militiary air lander for transporting troops supplied with two robo-turrets too.

Laserburn is more than its vehicles however as it has a large and enduringly popular 15mm infantry range which covers Law Officers, Adventurers, Starship Crew, Imperial Troopers, Redemptionists, Mercenaries, Robots and Droids. You can find all of these on the Laserburn page of the 15mm.co.uk website. I have seen these miniatures in games all across the world in a multitude of rules systems since they were put back onto the market.

Fondly remembered and still played by many wargaming groups are the Laserburn rule book titles. Wargaming in the old school way from the basic rules of Laserburn itself to the Advanced Laserburn and Aliens rules and ramping it up to larger battles with Imperial Commander too. There are other titles out there in the world too such as Robot and Forces of the Imperium as well as scenario sets though these are not stocked by us at 15mm.co.uk.

You can of course get all you need to get started in this system with our boxed set LBS01 Laserburn Starter Set which contains miniatures, vehicles and the rulebook too.

So if you adore Laserburn think about adding to your collection and if you decide to then we will, over the next seven days, throw in for free a Surprise Packet of Laserburn products. Bigger the order bigger the surprise but you will get something cool in even the smallest Laserburn order.

Thanks for Reading.

Galactic Knights - A Miniature Design Art Jam plus offer!

Its not that often that you come home from a long day at work to find something totally awesome in your feed but that was just what I found today.  What follows is by our lead designer Sam Croes and is his own words and images about how the HOF105 Galactic Knights came into being.  Its a direct transcript with images.  I have put an offer on this code for a week at 10% off so check them out and now read on.  GBS

Some time ago, I was involved in a remarkable design collaboration, an "art jam" as some of us call. during such a "jam", two or more creative persons will bounce ideas and designs off each other and work together to create a truly unique end result.

For this project, the first miniature design project I have thus attempted, I drew upon the wild ideas of my good friend, the many-talented Catheren "Cat" Beaton. Cat and I share a passion for swords and warriors, and during one of our online chats, the idea was sparked.

A few moments later, Cat had roughly sketched out what she thought the basic look of the Knights should be. From these expressive gesture lines, I distilled the most iconic features in a new drawing; the layered angular look of the suits and armour, the very unique helmet face plate, the broad sword blade and the flowing cloak.

Having then established the look of the figures, I then could start sculpting. One figure in the pack of four was based straight off the concept art. Two others were given handguns of a matching design, and a final one was given a support rifle type weapon.

After receiving the first castings of these miniatures, it was time to decide on a colour scheme. Space Age white for the suits, trimmed with gold for a fantasy touch, but the main contrast was provided by a vivid purple for the cloaks and fiery orange for the energy sword blades.

At this point the miniatures were released, but I was not done yet. Feeling inspired, I created one more illustration based on the final design. And with this picture, truly the process has come full circle.

And so the collaboration came to a fruitful Conclusion. But that is not entirely the end of it, there's one thing more to show. Some time after the sculpting of the figures, Cat did me a lovely little sketch of a female sci-fi knight. I took this sketch and added some colour magic to it.

Will this picture ever translate into miniature form? Only time can tell... Meanwhile, grab yourself a pack of Galactic Knights at 15mm.co.uk!  SC

V011 Scorpion Air Lander for Laserburn at 15mm.co.uk

Good and sad news everybody this week as we have the last Laserburn classic 15mm scale vehicle code re-mastered and re-released. Yes, that's right the last one and its been just over half a year since we started and its been a great experience and a lot of fun too. But we kept the daddy for last, the biggest and meanest of the whole vehicle range. That's right the old 'skull cracker' itself the Scorpion Air Lander. One of the very first 'dropship' type models in the early 1980's it was an absolute beast in white metal meaning it was really heavy, hard to produce and that meant that we took it off the market. In fact with this release today its now cheaper than it was in 2005! The big one piece hull is now in high quality grey tone resin which is much, much lighter. There are many dropship types of models on the market now but this vehicle is pure space opera with its open top and anti-gravity drive. Perhaps it was once in your collect or you might want to add one or more of them to your collection now. The Scorpion has come out beautifully and we are very happy with it and we hope you all are too.

Here are some pictures of the Scorpion Air Lander with scale image above showing a Laserburn 305 miniature (14mm tall).

V011 Scorpion Air Lander
1 Resin and Metal Kit 8.00GBP
This code contains all of the parts required to assemble one air lander suitable for any 15mm campaign. The parts are as follows a resin hull, a white metal cabin top, white metal landing legs and two separate white metal plasma robo turrets to mount on the hull. This model is not supplied with a flying base but can be easily mounted upon one. Assembly required but its a very easy build. Dimensions assembled are 55mm in length, 40mm width and 30mm height. A classic Laserburn model once more back in production.  Go HERE.

Human Colonial Army coming soon for Alien Squad Leader 2.0

It is the year 2100 and the Resource Wars are in full swing on Earth.  Nations feud to take what they can from a dying world that is all out of succour for her greedy children.  The richer power blocks have established small colonies on Mars and on the Moon in partial terraforming and in dome.  While the use of nuclear and chem-bio weapons is outlawed it is more out of fear than respect of life.  War is everywhere and the battle lines are in field and city both.   Before the strife reached its highest levels and regression began a dozen settlement ships were flung into the void in the 2080's founding Human possessions in nearby star systems. Those worlds are protected by the strained Colonial Defence Force against threat both of Earth origin and from among the stars themselves.

You might remember my musings about a brand new 100 point pre-packed army for Alien Squad Leader 2.0 back when we released the fantastic HOF27 Maginot Defence Turret and HOF28 Charger APC codes. Well the time for that release is fast approaching and its time for me to show you the composition of the 100 point army pack which will come with all the needed miniatures and all needed element bases (the great new resin cartouche bases put out a few weeks back) in a box with insert.  While the Maginot and the Charger have done really well on their own its is in this army that they come into their prime.  Read on:

HOF28 Charger APC with one of its three included turret options
HOF27 Maginot Turret with one of its two included weapon options

This army pack consists of the following items:

45 Human Infantry
5 Robotic Infantry
2 Vehicle Kits
2 Defence Turret Kits
Bases: Fourteen (12 50mm x 50mm, 2 50mm x 100mm)

You can learn all about Human Colonial Armies in ASQL on pages 42-42 of the Alien Squad Leader rulebook.  These armies of this template type are characterised by their called up lower quality infantry defending their homeworld with the help of good defensive fire power and towers too.  One of the favourite templates for beginner players from our feedback and one to use against experienced players too.  This new army pack will get you into the game and playing plus it will save you 10% off list prices and the same if you choose to buy it pro-painted and based from 15mm.co.uk ready to play out of the box.

Sneak Peek – Greens for new Trolls in the HOT Range

We are expanding our excellent and long running HOT (Hordes of Things) with new packs and among the first of these are two packs that have been topping the requests lists for a long time; Trolls. A central element in any Goblinoid army (Goblins, Orcs, Mountain Orcs, Hob Goblins and so on) are monsters and a firm favourite type of monster is the Troll. Big, ugly and stupid but with a feral lust for killing and raw flesh Trolls are really hard to bring down. So they fit right in with Goblinoids as a behemoth element in say a HOTT Army.

Our HOT3A Troll pack is a firm favourite and we must have sold literally thousands over the years of this pack. Lead designer Sam Croes looked at the original Troll very carefully and I asked him to be faithful to the styling of this original design. While there is no right way or wrong way to create a creature of pure fantasy there are styles to which you can assign your design. I favour what I would refer to as the high fantasy British approach when it comes to Trolls. Tall, rangy and thin with hooked noses and warts, pot belly and without intellect. This would be familiar to almost all wargamers as an approach. This is the approach that the original HOT3A Troll was designed under so it would be continued.

While the already existing Troll is hunched over and dragging a big stone headed hammer behind it the new greens feature a Troll in the same style (they could be monstrous brothers) but this one is standing up and has a similar but different style of stone headed hammer over its shoulder; its mouth open in a jagged toothed leer. The other new Troll is looking around while getting ready to dole out some pain with a gripped tree trunk. Each of these new greens is totally in scale with the original and stands around 25mm tall sole of foot to top of head. Provisionally these two will be supplied as codes HOT3C Troll and HOT3D Troll with two identical miniatures per pack. I think Sam Croes equalled the original Troll and they will all go well together in a little group of savage monsters.

If you enjoyed this short look at the new greens and have suggestions for an expansion to the HOT range then do let me know. You would be surprised how open we are to suggestions and creating what wargamers ask for. After all that is really just what these new Trolls are. We expect to release the new codes in a few weeks time.

Thanks for Reading.

Alien Squad Leader 100 Point Army Packs now come with Cartouche Bases

Before we come to our main releases of the week on Thursday I have some news for you all.  Fans of Alien Squad Leader 2.0 will be happy to hear that from this week all orders from 15mm.co.uk that contain an army pack for the game will come with new and better element bases.

The new element bases are in the correct sizes for ASQL that being a 50mm square and a 100mm by 50mm rectangle for troop elements.  They are cartouche shape meaning rounded corners and are made of 3mm thick high quality resin.  These are pleasing to the eye and are strong enough to carry any 15mm miniatures or vehicles.  This change applies to our army packs for ASQL unpainted and pro-painted and based.

We currently offer the following Army Packs for Alien Squad Leader and we have another coming in the near future for a Human Colonial Army.

Thanks for your time.

UM005 USEME American Civil War - Out of Stock

In a surprise turn of events 15mm.co.uk had a big run on printed USEME titles and also Downloads of USEME as well over the last twenty four hours.  Not that we are complaining but it has totally finished our stock of the printed booklet for UM005 USEME American Civil War and as a result this product has been removed from our website.

The paid for download version is still online and we are considering a new print run in a week or so.  If you wish to register your interest in USEME American Civil War or anything else USEME related please send us an email to sales@15mm.co.uk and we will let you know when its back in stock.

With the completion of my tripartite year long process of building and moving forward the websites for 15mm.co.uk, Alternative Armies and The Ion Age I should have more time for more titles in the USEME series in the near future.  Certainly Bob McAlister's USEME Prohibition Gangsters is nearly ready.

V007 Jetcopter from Laserburn back at 15mm.co.uk

V007 Scythe Jetcopter
This week we have one of the two remaining classic Laserburn vehicles re-mastered and in new molds for you.  The Scythe class Jetcopter.  This was one of the most popular models from the 15mm Laserburn line in the 1980's but in recent years its huge weight in white metal meant that its price became ever higher sadly.  Now though it is produced in part in metal but its hull is high grade resin meaning it is much lighter and easier to produce as well.  While there are many VTOL and such aircraft and dropships too on the market there are few science fiction helicopters by comparison.  Perhaps it was once in your collect or you might want to add one or more of them to your collection now.  The Scythe has come out beautifully and we are very happy with it and we hope you all are too.

Here are some more pictures of the jetcopter.
