We are proud to present in conjunction with the new Maginot Defence Turret the release of three MkII Charger Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) in 15mm scale. Three different means of propulsion and two primary configurations see you able to choose Wheeled, Tracked or Hover along with a gun turret or APC hatch with crewman out of crew hatch or crew hatch closed with each one. HOF 15mm Grey Alien Flying Saucer now in resin!

One of the most popular parts of the wide scoped and large HOF 15mm science fiction range (which has over one hundred different packs) are the Grey Aliens.  Sculpted by Mark Ricketts they have been a favourite with Alien Squad Leader Players using the Alien Greys list and wargamers over all over the world using lots of different rule systems.  This week we have replaced the original white metal 15mm scale HOF50 Grey Alien Flying Saucer with an identical re-mastered resin vehicle.  It is the same saucer and includes a separate dome which can be put on or left off to expose the detailed cockpit with pilot. Grey Aliens are an enigmatic race of small, bulbous-headed, and highly intelligent aliens, the Greys are primarily scientists rather than soldiers, but sometimes come into conflict with other races when competing for resources, or when seeking to establish possession of a particular site for temporary and mysterious purposes. Their unauthorised experimental activities on live subjects who have usually been abducted can also provoke a hostile military response from races who have been subjected to such intrusions.

Indeed, the Greys appear to regard the rest of the universe like thier own enormous laboratory. Greys are not physically suited to combat situations, and their scientists in particular have an aversion to shedding the blood of living creatures, and so tend to prefer non-violent ways of defeating thier enemies, or to turning thier enemy’s weapons against themselves. Naturally, the more warlike races despise this reluctance to cause casualties as a sign of weakness, but the Greys have been reluctantly forced to train combat teams and actual soldiers as their ability to evade detection appears to have declined in recent decades. A Grey stands at approximately four feet in height and has light grey skin with black almond eyes and favours uniform suits of a silver and blue colour.

Say Goodbye to the 15mm Charger APC and Maginot Defence Tower

Yes say goodbye to the popular HOF27 Maginot Defence Tower and the HOF28 Charger APC models in our HOF 15mm Science Fiction range.  They will be withdrawn from sale at the end of February 2016.  But wait you say!  Why withdraw them when everyone loves them?  Well we have decided to re-master both of these models and then release them once more into the HOF Range in the late spring.  Its a great time to do this as we plan to expand the propulsion options on the Charger and weapon mount on the Maginot too.  Don't fret though since these new versions will be 100% compatible with the original models.  The new versions are also designed by Sam Croes who came up with the originals.

SFA Troopers advance upon a stolen Grav Van

At 15mm.co.uk we are all about fostering wargamers talents and interests and to that end back in 2009 Gavin Syme (GBS) created the SHM idea. 'Self Help Miniatures' are designed by aspiring sculpters who in return for giving their creations to 15mm.co.uk get into the hobby and gain experience. As a result a dozen designers (some of them working on their own right in the industry now) have submitted designs which made it to the SHM Range and this website. V011 Scorpion Air Lander for Laserburn at 15mm.co.uk

Good and sad news everybody this week as we have the last Laserburn classic 15mm scale vehicle code re-mastered and re-released. Yes, that's right the last one and its been just over half a year since we started and its been a great experience and a lot of fun too. But we kept the daddy for last, the biggest and meanest of the whole vehicle range. That's right the old 'skull cracker' itself the Scorpion Air Lander. One of the very first 'dropship' type models in the early 1980's it was an absolute beast in white metal meaning it was really heavy, hard to produce and that meant that we took it off the market. In fact with this release today its now cheaper than it was in 2005! The big one piece hull is now in high quality grey tone resin which is much, much lighter. There are many dropship types of models on the market now but this vehicle is pure space opera with its open top and anti-gravity drive. Perhaps it was once in your collect or you might want to add one or more of them to your collection now. The Scorpion has come out beautifully and we are very happy with it and we hope you all are too.

The parts are as follows a resin hull, a white metal cabin top, white metal landing legs and two separate white metal plasma robo turrets to mount on the hull. V007 Scythe Jetcopter

This week we have one of the two remaining classic Laserburn vehicles re-mastered and in new molds for you.  The Scythe class Jetcopter.  This was one of the most popular models from the 15mm Laserburn line in the 1980's but in recent years its huge weight in white metal meant that its price became ever higher sadly.  Now though it is produced in part in metal but its hull is high grade resin meaning it is much lighter and easier to produce as well.  While there are many VTOL and such aircraft and dropships too on the market there are few science fiction helicopters by comparison.  Perhaps it was once in your collect or you might want to add one or more of them to your collection now.  The Scythe has come out beautifully and we are very happy with it and we hope you all are too.

This code contains all of the parts required to assemble one jetcopter suitable for any 15mm campaign.  The parts are as follows a resin hull, resin top mounted engine pods, white metal landing struts, white metal rotor blades with miniature thrusters and three separate weapon pods for attaching to the hull.  This model is not supplied with a flying base but can be easily mounted upon one.  Assembly required.  Dimensions assembled are 75mm length, 35mm width and 35mm height.  A classic Laserburn model once more back in production. V105 Sabre Jet Flyer from Sam Croes collection

Before the team at 15mm.co.uk began the process of re-mastering the Laserburn vehicle range Sam Croes (lead designer at The Ion Age) and I had a series of conversations about the miniature range and its wonderful place in the history not only of wargaming but also the literal creation of what is now 15mm science fiction wargaming.  Sam Croes has assembled a small personal collection of Laserburn miniatures and some of the vehicles too.  This is a short posting about his personalised Sabre Jet Flyer.

I was asked by a fair number of 15mm.co.uk customers after a reference to this personalised Sabre if we would show it to you all.  Well here it is.  Enjoy.

You can find the V105 Sabre Jet Flyer on our website and the Imperial Troopers on the main Laserburn page but the Imperial Pilot is code 313 Crewman.  Here are some more images of the personalised Sabre in service of the Imperium:

The paint scheme is one of the standard Imperial ones that goes well with desert worlds such as those favoured by the Redemptionists and the twin mottled yellows and strong red go well with Imperial powered armour.  Depicted in flight the Sabre might well be on patrol and the jet pods are angled for flight.  The Imperial pilot was altered slightly in order to fit into the civilian sized seat.  This modification was made by thinning down the back of the miniature and was straight forward.  Since the standard Sabre is unarmed a pair of small guns were added to the nose of the flyer.  While Sam Croes made these from scratch it would be an easy affair to add Laserburn Robo-Turrets to the nose or indeed top of the Sabre.  Its a great personalised small vehicle when paired up with a squad of Imperial Troopers.
