Abominable Weather a free Scenario for USEME

Hello USEME fans!

The festive range is back online until early January and that means a new USEME scenario adding to the stable of the Terminus Arc, Branch Face and Cold Thing.  We present the third themed winter scenario.

Abominable Weather -  A scenario for two players or solo play.  Can a back up team of Malamut Mercenaries make it across the snow plain to the Hegemony Station following their buddies while a group of invincible bobble hat sporting Snow Monsters try to eat them?

Sam Croes customised 15mm SFA Winter Troopers

Festive Fun month continues with a great little blog article now.

Next week we will be presenting the annual free USEME scenario for winter 2015 titled 'Abominable Weather' a follow up to last years Branch Face and the year before Cold Thing both of which can be found on the links. The scenario will make use of the new SN03 Abominable Snow Monsters miniatures added to the seasonal range this month alongside the Evil Snowmen and Killer Xmas Trees. 

But before that I want to introduce you to the brave lads and lassies of Security Force Alpha (SFA) our generic near future packs in the HOF range but with a difference... 

Our lead designer Sam Croes is a wizard of the green stuff and many other things too. He has an extensive collection of miniatures of his own many of which have been 'tweaked' by his hand into unique poses or looks. His own collection of SFA miniatures is no different. These images show you his Winter Troopers converted from standard Security Force Alpha miniatures. 

Below are the larger images but as you can see the collection of Winter SFA Troopers is composed of seven different unique miniatures. The command poses are all converted from HOF95 SFA Command. An officer with re-breather for extreme cold climate as well as fur lined uniform and a communications trooper with the sat dish augmented with long ariel gear to manage the extreme conditions. Lastly a sniper with additional fur lining and a long cloak along with bigger scope on his rifle. The trooper poses are taken from HOF96, HOF97 and HOF99 and are armed with sub-machine guns and large bore combat shotgun. The normal uniform has been made better for artic weather by the addition of extra linings and fur trimming as well as a re-breather supplying warmed pre-warmed air. Some of the troopers have weather proofed fabric packs on their backs allowing them to carry survival equipment and extra food. 

We hope you liked this quick look at these converted miniatures. The Security Force Alpha range contains seventeen different packs and more than thirty poses and is well suited to near future, present day, post apocalypse and many more settings. Designed by Elton Waters (Infantry and Skimmer) and Sam Croes (Turret and Charger) the SFA sits well in your collection as the faceless enforcers of your will!

Few companies I think put as much effort into customer service as Alternative Armies does (our sister to 15mm.co.uk and The Ion Age) and while the other two brands do their own fun things here at 15mm.co.uk we have the festive range.  I hope you enjoy it and we will return with an article and scenario to follow up on Branch Face later this month.  All of our releases for this month are already on our website, the last for 2015.

Seasonal Festive Range returns in December 2015 with a new pack!

Those of you who are long term customers of 15mm.co.uk will know what while our sister brands have their own ideas of Christmas and the season of goodwill (Cryptmass on Valon anyone?) we have a treat for wargamers that is only online for a month or so each year.  The Seasonal Festive Range (SN codes) will return at the start of December 2015 and remain until early January of the new year on our Deals and Offers page.  We are adding another new pack and a value composite pack to what we already have.  So joining SN01 Evil Snowmen and SN02 Killer Xmas Trees will be...SN03 Abominable Snow Monsters!

This short article shows you pictures of Sam Croes sculpts for the two poses that will be in this new pack.  From the front, from the back and from the sides.  Why from the side?  Because of something extra cool!  Every pack comes with a sprue of two little Christmas Hats which you can place on the angry noggin of the Snow Monster or leave off.  Full details upon release but there are two one piece poses in white metal with each standing about 40mm tall.

Here are the codes you can expect online during December and early January only before the season ends and they vanish until the end of 2016.

Killer Xmas Trees and Evil Snowmen until January 2015

South Pole, American Hegemony Station, Deep Winter 2082......

With a groaning of effort the mercenaries managed to push the heavy steel door shut.  Its red paint was flecked in places from bullet impacts and burned by the flame throwers used by these private soldiers in their efforts to keep out what was following them.  Malamute Executive Response had sent in a dozen of them in one grav-copter and a second dozen in another.  Of the other group there was no sign and only ten of the twelve here remained.  Two of their number had been lost, changed, by the snow made men out there on the ice.  

Sergeant Campbell ordered full weapons and kit checks and reloads and in a matter of a minute the reduced team were ready once more to proceed into the silent complex of the AH Station. They were in a large open plan entrance hall and what looked like a meeting area.  Furniture was scattered about and two bodies lay in grotesquely twisted shapes on the hard floor.  The sergeant signalled two of their number to take a look at the bodies while the rest of them advanced with their M104 rifles ready.  The flame throwers were stowed away in favour of combat shotguns due to the blaze risk inside the station.

“Collins what happened to those poor bastards?”

The bodies had been mauled by wild animals with great bloody tears in their flesh and clothing.  But what was really odd was that they also had hundreds of fine green needles stuck in their skins around the wounds.  Something was really wrong with AH Station.  What were the corporate staff here doing?

“Sergeant.  I have no idea.  They are dead aright, have been for a while in fact. But these green needles...almost like from a tree or something.”

After what had happened outside the Malamute mercenaries were taking no chances.  They scanned the large area again and this time noticed two dozen decorated trees that surely had not been there before.  Loaded with baubles and bedecked with garlands it was strange since it was late autumn.  They were about to return their attention to the corpses when the trees shook and seemed to start to move towards them.  What happened next resulted in a hail of gunfire.  The tree nearest to Trooper Baines seemed to split apart up its trunk and a mouth emerged.  A mouth with a red tongue and rows of razor sharp white teeth!

“Aw Hell!  This is turning into a real peach of a day.  Fire!  Pick your targets and get pruning!”

"Collins get him on his feet.  McBeardy what happened here?  Where's the rest of the staff?" 

The snowfall had been heavy and lay all across the ice sheet making the dozen mercenaries of the Malamute Executive Response nervous.  The grav-copter had dropped them off less than five minutes ago and then fled before the oncoming storm trapped it.  As the team had made it way toward the buildings of the AH Station they had seen no sign of life.  No sign of the fifty wage slave and corporate staff or the detachment of guards with them.   What was going on?  The company had hired them and flown them in.  A lot of firepower for what might be a busted comms suite.

"McBeardy.  Can you hear me?  Where's the staff?  Why are you out here?"

Collins had shouldered his M104 Auto-Rifle and had McBeardy by the shoulders.  The scientist appeared to be barely concious and his clothes were torn, his feet bare.  He would be dead from exposure if they did not get him inside soon.  Sergeant Campbell was about to tell Collins to just drag McBeardy along with them when Collins screamed in terror and dropped the scientist to the ground.

"Collins.  What the hell are you doing?  Get him up, right fu....."

Sergeant Campbell trailed off and instead he, along with the rest of the mercenaries, watched open mouthed as McBeardy convulsed and then began to change.  His clothes burst and the ground around him was lashed by brown tendrils that dragged snow towards the scientist.  With a howl of inhuman origin what was once McBeardy rose to its feet its body bulking up and changing white.  In moments shapes took form upon the white body, a scarf, a hat and a wicked ice knife in gloved hands.  McBeardy was gone as his face imploded and was replaced by what looked like for all the world two pieces of coal and a carrot.  The snow made man for what was what is was turned on Collins and lunged at him arms outstreched.

"Fire.  Damn it, kill it.  Fire!"

Cold Thing and Branch Face- USEME Scenarios

Last year we advertised a free USEME scenario that was coming up to go with our festive range. Sadly the master file for this scenario was lost and therefore it was never published.  This year though 15mm.co.uk will be putting up two scenarios for free.  The first is a re-write of the original Cold Thing and the second is a new one called Branch Face.  Generic and suitable for UM001 15mm Science Fiction or UM004 Modern Warfare they will give you a weekend of fun for sure!  Details to come.

Festive Season 2013 Begins - SN01 Evil Snowmen
